Wedding Details Box
What the hell is a wedding details box? Think of all of the special details on your wedding day that would bring your photos to life. Photographing details helps tell the story of not only your day, but who you are. Typically, these details are shot at the very beginning of your coverage timeline. A flat lay can include details from both people! It’s not only a bridal flat lay. Anything can go into detail shots - as many or as few as you really care about. Plus, it’s a great way to begin your wedding album to help to set the theme from your day! Bonus: it warms me up creatively to begin photographing the day.
To make this process as quick and easy as possible, it is best to set aside these details in a box or a bag the day before (or sooner if you're like me & get flustered when you have to rush!) I can't tell you how many times things that were on the "must photograph" list have been forgotten.
Below are just some examples of the details I recommend putting there:
- Invitation suite (invitation, RSVP card, save the date card, etc.) Multiple of them if they are double sided, with envelopes; especially if there is a fun design on the inside or calligraphy with stamps on the outside!
- Loose ribbon (I will have a few neutral selections but if you want a perfect match to your wedding bouquet/colors feel free to bring!)
- Ring boxes (I will have a couple of these, too)
- All of the rings
- Shoes/ fun socks
- Vow books
- Veil (If you have or want in flat lay)
- Family heirlooms
- LOOSE FLORALS (This one often gets missed but can really bring everything together. You can ask your florist for loose cuttings. You can also use dried flowers if the florist will not have the flowers in time.
- Jewelry/ watches/ hair accessories/ cuff links/ lipstick of the day
- Fancy hanger!
- Perfume/ cologne
- Celebratory libations/herbal refreshments
- Borrowed/blue items
- Tokens that help tell the story of the location (Think shells/seaglass, moss/stones, leaves/plants, you get the idea)
